Footrot flats cooch
Cooch
Cooch is a nature lover. He loves all living things.
He is a farmer and Wal’s neighbour. Cooch has black hair and a smile and He always wears a black singlet, shorts and gummies. He tries to stop Wal from cutting down trees and he has a girl dog named Jess.
He is a beauty bloke; ask any possum, deer, rabbit, magpie or weta. He is the only joker I know who’d give his hanky to a slug with a sniffle. He keeps goats and black berry. He has a cabbage tree growing up through his verandah floor and the roots of a piriri tree have pushed his house crooked. You have to climb up the floors and in some places and in other places you have to jog down the slopes.
Mind you he is not a vegetarian. He does kill to eat. His eel and puff ball stew is an acquired taste. He is a very good fisherman and the only guy I know that can catch flounder with his bare feet. He owns some deer and a big 14 point stag that the Murphys want to steal.
He also plays rugby for the Raupo old boys.
Wal and Cooch are really good friends ... Mind you they do fight ... but mostly about not cutting down trees, golf and where to put the flounder net.
footrot flats about me
Hi. My name is Dylan. I am 11 years old. I like rugby, cricket, fishing and hunting. I am a good at hunting. I do lots of possum hunting and have a slug gun and a 4 point stag head on my wall. I like to help dad on the farm and when he does the shearing, help by rousing ... but not all the time.
I like it when dad does the fencing because, when I am not nailing in the staples, I can go hunting for fresh water crayfish and slide down the the hill with some cardboard.
My first production was ‘Apiti’s Got talent’ and my favourite is ‘Badjelly the Witch’. I was Binkle Bonk, the tree gnome. It was kinda like been a Smurf. I had to help Huntah and Zahn by giving them a place to stay.
I have done 3 productions.
For this production I am Cooch. I try to stop Wal from cutting down a tree and tell everyone about Wal leaving. It’s like being Wal’s right hand man. Cooch is a bit of greeny and he likes to plant trees. My favrourite character in Footrot Flats is dog.
In the future I would like to do ‘The wizard of Oz’.

Deer hunting
We were at Jock's place at about 4:30 pm and me, Tyler, James, dad and Jock had just left the hut to go and shoot a deer. It was a long walk through all the bush. After about half an hour we came across some recent deer signs on a rocky slip.
When came on to the tussock we could see lots and lots of deer prints and poo.We rounded a corner and there they where. Two stags right on the bush line.
After about 3 minutes of watching them, the first shot was fired and then a second. Then 3 hinds and a faun came out of the bush and ran across to the other side. We stopped for a minute and caught our breath. Then we started the very difficult way through the bush to get the deer.
We had to bush wack through the bushy gully that was riddled with stinging nettle.
Finally we found the deer on the hill. We gutted it and pulled it down to the finish line.
We cut off its head and started to walk up the hill. That took us about 1 hour and 30 minutes.it was extra hard for me because the head that i was carrying had a muggril antler. when we had finale got back to the ,mum had made some bugers. in the moring we toke the moter bikes and got the traler we piked up the deer carkis.when we got back to the howes we cut out the iner filits and sent the rest to the bucher.

Mushrooms
As the sun rises the mushrooms rocket up. Hundreds of colors grow where the wood mouse stores supplies for winter. Mushrooms shoot up like little space ships.
