Roman King

As I walk up on the Yellow sands of the Roman village, I can hear swords clashing from the arena. The gladiators are fighting for the king. I hear cheering as some one had won. When I walk down the road a man asked me if I was going to the big fight. I walk closer to the Colosseum. 
"Hi," I said.
"Hi," they said back... 
They looked just like me except Derek had a spear and Tyler had a bow. I went over to them and started hit a clump of hay. I asked who we were facing. They pointed at two of the kings best knights. They had gold armor and fancy feathers on their helmets. The feathers were dyed red to represent blood. 
Suddenly a great noise came from somewhere in the arena, 
"The fight will now begin!!!!!" A great knight came charging towards us. Tyler and Derek moaned. They did not wanted to fight the king's knights because it was a fight to the death. Finally Tyler fired an arrow. It landed right inside the helmet and knock him out cold. A spear came flying out of Tyler so fast it went straight through the armor like a knife through butter. He fell solidly. Just then the knight got up. He came charging towards us. I stared to spin like a helicopter. I started to fly over to him. My sword went straight through him.
WE had won the fight .Three gladiators came in carrying gold crowns .You are now the kings. We put on the crowns and everyone lived happily ever after. 
"Oh no," I said. I was too late. Suddenly I was taken by the arm by a guard. He took me to the gladiators' quarter. He placed a helmet on my head and armor all over me and he gave two swords. He pushed me out and I see my old friends, Tyler and Derek.

Bug Buddies

With a heavy crack the slab of concert hit the ground with a slap. What's that ...
"It's a huge spider," Tyler said.
I WANT THAT SPIDER.
As fast as he said "I want that spider", I put it in his box.We went to the class room and looked at it through the magnifying glass. It was so hairy and its fangs were so sharp I couldn't bear to look at them.
After that we went to the native area. We looked under a stump.
"Aah!" Tyler screamed jumping backwards. He landed in a bush. I saw a huge spider at least 10 cm long. It  scampered away into a hole.                    

Smokers

Puff, puff, toot, toot!

Black smoke puffed out of the steam engine. 

Hooray ... the steam tractors  are coming.

Black ones, green ones, little ones, big ones. 

My favourite one is called "Dirty girl". It is big and black with gold stripes. A man came and told as how it works. We got to go in the tractors. It was a great day.          

Skiing 2013

As we drove up the mountain, I could see the snow. It looked like a big bowl of ice cream.
When we got to the rental area we had to get the ski gear. On the slope, there I was racing down at lightening speeds.
When I fell I got a mouthful of snow.
At the lesson we learnt stopping, jumping and lots of other maneuvers. After that I went up the Giant and Park lane.
It was a great day.

"But it could be dangerous," aid mum.
"But my friend, Rugby ball, he gets to be thrown on a field and plants!"

Water is important

My name is Dylan and I am here to tell you the interesting,exciting and super facts about water. Because water is very important. It keeps everything alive.

Did you know that 2/3 of an average person's  body is water. We are just like this grape ... all watery and juicy.

Imagine if there was no water on the planet. We would end up like this raisin and would eventually dehydrate and shrivel up and die.

You are probably wondering what dehydration is. Dehydration is when the body does not get enough water. This can cause mental confusion which can make people do silly things. If a person does not drink water when they need to there will not be enough fluid in the blood circulating in their body. This can cause hypoglycemic shock which can kill you.

As you know ... plants need water. Without water on the planet, plants would die! Plants need to absorb the moisture from the soil through their roots. For example, I have two plants here. One of them I have watered for the last few days. One I have not. Can you spot the difference?

But wait! There’s more. What would happen to the fish? Nothing because there would not be any fish. Fish have to have water to survive. Actually there would not be any marine life! Water is the home of marine life. For example, at Kapiti Island this year we walked down to the beach to go fishing and snorkelling. I noticed lots of jellyfish scattered on the rocks all over the beach. They had died as there wasn’t enough water for them.

Without water most of us wouldn't have any electricity. Wikipedia.com shows that half of New Zealand's electricity needs come from water. Without water there wouldn't be any electricity. But then I guess if we have all dehydrated and perished, electricity wouldn’t have been invented.And wouldn’t be needed!

So don’t you think water is the most  interesting,

the most exciting

the most super thing in the world!

We need water.

It keeps everything alive.

Sam Strahan Junior Cup

At the Palmerston North Arena we played in the Junior Sam Strahan Cup. Our team was Apiti and Kimbolton. I went with the Digby family. We got to the semi-finals and lost by the coin toss. It was fair but a bit annoying. I hope next year we do better.

Kapiti Cool

Water Wonders
On the second day we were fishing, swimming and Tom was trying to surf on a log ... well he was boogie boarding! I had a go and was pushing it down and diving under. I tried doing everything Tom couldn't do. The water was cold. Most people had to get used to it before they got in!
Kick,kick,kick.
Me and Cole swam away into deeper water. We could see lots of fish out there and we wanted to have a look round. 
"Octopus!" Cole pointed it out. It looked ugly and round with big round circles all over it . I knew it was an octopus because squid are more streamlined with tentacles out the back and they keep moving and stay in a pack of three. An octopus is kind of round and stays at the bottom and tries to hide.
Cole zoomed away in a flash. I swam down to touch it. I have been in a boat before and went scallop diving close to the rocks. We saw one then so I knew what to look for. But when I went down to touch it ...
Squirt!
It squirted black ink at me. I couldn't see anything and I swam away in a flash. I went up, hoping I could get out of the black. I got out as fast as I got in! 

Later that night on the second day, I went to the creek to watch the little fish!! EEL!!!
I ran around the tents to tell all my friends. They all came down to have a look. Over the days we went down to the creek to play with the eels. One time we tied some squid on some flax and onto a stick to try to catch them. The eel bit it and it dropped off and it swam away following it. It went into a shallow bit. We put the squid next to the entrance of a log cave thinking it would be under it. It popped out and we saw it flicking its tail making all of the water murky. We wondered what was happening under the surface. We didn't know what was going to happen. Suddenly I saw the flax move. Frantically I pulled the stick up. The eel popped. I enjoyed it because it was thrilling and We did not know what was going to happen next. Every little eel was a different size.

GUN

Army visit
"Turn around for a picture," I groaned. I could barely move. I felt like a rock.
BOOM!! What was that?
Oow ... a smoke grenade BOOM. 
Oo BOOM. Aaaaa! 
Now its time for the run. 
Gooo! Zoom zing! We were racing against a guy from the army. Huntah won. It was a fast race. I came third.

Jellyfish Jam

Hey someone throw their jelly in the water.NO that's a jellyf WHAT A  jellyfish. Its massive.its as big as a diner plat.Dad pulled it out .I i i i is that a another one this place is infested with jellyfish AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA .Said James and he BONk ran into a tree.Then we went swimming.I found a crab and another and another and another.Soon I had found 15 and one fish.
